Remote Operations for Canada
Serving an area that is widely recognized as one of the industry’s harshest offshore operating environments, the Canada Remote Operations Center will bring remote survey, processing and piloting to the region.
For more than 25 years working offshore in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, we've performed integrated site characterization and asset integrity services on behalf of the region’s major operators. With the opening of the ROC, we'll now deliver these industry-leading solutions, with real-time insights, from our new state-of-the-art onshore facility.
What does this mean for our local clients
Expedited data delivery, including near-real-time data to meet demanding delivery schedules
Proven client return on incremental investment (ROII) allied with flexible and scalable operations
Reduced carbon footprint due to USVs being deployed and reduced number of personnel mobilizations
A collaborative build
The Canada ROC was constructed with the assistance of the Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Oil and Gas Industry Recovery Assistance Fund, a programme of the provincial and federal governments. It will focus initially on supporting Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore oil and gas sector, with plans to make it available for use in other industries both locally and globally. It was selected for funding based on the ROC’s local employment opportunities, environmental benefits and support to existing oil and gas installations.
"We are pleased to help lead Canada's digital transformation, accelerating the application of remote operations in the region to reduce the carbon footprint of energy development."
- Pat Byrne, Marine Asset Integrity Manager in Canada
Services provided by the ROC
The Canada ROC is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and supports existing client activities using a variety of innovative technologies.
ROCing the news
World Pipelines Article
Our Senior Project Manager, Rodney Spurvey's article in World Pipelines details just how challenging offshore conditions can be in Eastern Canada and how remote and autonomous technologies contribute to our purpose of a a safe and liveable world.
Global expertise with local presence
As our tenth ROC, the St. John's location will further strengthen our global network of remote services. The ROC network leverages innovative technology, internet and cloud-based services - connecting offshore survey vessels to the onshore ROC. Our experts in each ROC, can conduct the same tasks onshore as required onboard the vessel, enabling access to a broader range of expertise, 24/7 monitoring and support including real-time client access to vessel operations and data through a secure web interface. We know managing and maintaining connectivity is critical to remote operations. Our connections are designed to reduce latency and improve throughput, so you can access your project information when and where you need it.
